Understand Dementia
More than 130,000 people in Massachusetts are living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.The Dementia Experience uses sensory modifications and role playing activities to depict real situations that a person living with Mild Cognitive Impairment or dementia would face. Getting dressed, taking your daily medications and preparing a meal, are all simple activities that are severely thwarted by cognitive disability. The Dementia Experience thrusts you into the daily life of someone with dementia by simulating the physical ailments afflicting many seniors and creating the frustration, confusion and anxiety that accompanies cognitive impairment.
